She also added that any of the candidates who gets a job after fulfilling the 2 child norm is required to maintain it in his entire job tenure. Along with the government job, the 2 child norm will also be applicable to the various employment generation schemes that include giving tractors, homes facilities, and others benefits. The election which will be conducted in the future including municipal bodies, panchayats, and autonomous councils that come under the state election commission will also include 2 child policy norms.
Sarma further said the proposed population policy will seek to debate on increasing the legal age of marriage from 18 years for girls and 21 years for boys. If anybody has child marriage then he will be ineligible for the government job, the minister said. The minister also said he will consider including a provision for giving 50 per cent reservation to women in government jobs and elections.
